Orange Crush: Dewey Beach Original by DCBeerGirl on Polyvore
With the official start of summer upon
us, I thought I would share two of Washingtonians’ favorite summer things:
Dewey Beach and Orange Crushes.
Most people associate the beach with
family bonding and picnics. However, there is different beach that resonates with
locals in Washington, D.C. - Dewey Beach. For better or worse, it is spring break for
adults every weekend.
Dewey Beach is also known for its
signature cocktail, the Orange Crush. It is a mix of vodka, triple sec, sprite
and fresh orange juice. This iconic drink is delicious and refreshing! The key
component to the drink is the fresh orange juice. Traditionally it is made with an orange press
which squeezes out more of the essential oils from the peel.
While you can easily make these at home
(recipe below), there is something special about drinking one of these at the
Starboard, where Happy Hour starts at 9 am.
